Jewelry Design Guide: Earring Styles

Identifying the four basic earring types is easy. Identifying when to wear them can be a bit more tricky. Here is a breakdown:

earringsStud: Stud earrings are the skeleton key of accessories, they always work. You can wear stud earrings with a choker or a classic strand of pearls. Consider semi-precious stones by day and diamonds by night.

Celebrity JewelryDrop: This style is designed to accentuate your neck and jaw. Pull your hair up and show off your beautiful earrings. Drops may move a bit, but most stay stationary. Consider bright colors and eye-catching patterns like those found in our Green Beryl Drop Earrings.

Celebrity JewelryHoop: In terms of both functionality and style, size matters. Smaller hoops that sit snug against the ear are perfect for active wear. Larger hoops work well when your hair is let down and let loose for a night out. You may also be able to pull off larger hoops if you have short hair, so long as your head doesn't look smaller because of them. Consider experimenting with oblong hoops. Check out our Green Opal Pave Hoops or our Hammered Hoop with Grey Suede.

Dangle: Dangle earrings are attention grabbers, both for their length and the way they move. Tons of fun to wear dangles can reach down almost to the shoulder. Consider leather fringe or beaded hoops for daytime and crystal encrusted or gold filigree at night.

People Magazine says Pepper Potts is the Prettiest!

People Magazine recently named Gwyneth Paltrow its annual "Most Beautiful Woman in the World." If you've ever looked through our celebrity jewelry collection, you know that Mrs. Chris Martin has amazing taste in accessories. Accessories that she uses to accent a daring sense of style.

For the world premiere of Iron Man 3 the blonde beauty stole the spotlight with a white front, navy back, sideless stunner of a dress. Never one to shy away from a revealing design by Antonio Berardi, Gwyneth added another highlight to her fashion icon resume.

Highlight or lowlight? As with any fashion risk it depends on who you ask. Many fashion reporters are applauding her latest choice while "Go Fug Yourself" is naturally roundly panning it because that is what they do.

While the dress has gotten all the attention, Gwyneth did not step onto the red carpet without her accessories. We were particularly impressed with the white gold and diamond ring she wore on her left hand. And then there were the asymmetrical earrings. One ear featured a stud and the other a cascading floral chandelier. The two contrasting items matched in terms of materials and color. Added to which Gwyneth used her long hair to help partially obscure the longer earring.

As always we are looking forward to seeing what Gwyneth comes up with next!

Gold Bar Ring: Classic and Classy

Precious gems and pearls are the centerpiece of most jewelry with gold holding them in their exalted place--a humble servant. Strange considering that for as long as people have collected beautiful things gold has been the most desired of substances.

Our gold bar ring raises the world's most desired precious metal back to its rightful place. Featuring a tiny gold ingot that will stand out without being bulky or clunky, this Pame Design original is the perfect way to add a flash of gold to any outfit. To make it even more special we gave it a wrap of pave crystals the color of amber topaz that accent it like a little tiara.

Despite its grand dame status this ring is no diva. Slip on other pieces for a one-two punch!
