Our Montauk Pebble Necklace shines like a lighthouse on rocky shores drawing attention to a trio of naturally contoured nuggets that link the necklace to its beautiful namesake. It is a casually chic piece that can be worn with jeans and a linen tunic top or with an airy summer frock.
What we love about Montauk
It's not miles and miles of white sand and azure water. We love those beaches too. But sometimes we want a rugged adventurous beach, a beach you can stroll wearing a warm sweater on a windy autumn day. Here is how the U.S. Geological Survey describes Montauk: "A walk along the beach provides an opportunity to examine a wide assortment of rock types in the beautifully wave-polished boulders and cobbles on the beach. Rocks consist of granite, gneiss, schist, and quartzite derived from the New England Highlands region.”
A Bit of Beach to Clasp and Unclasp
The Montauk beaches are very popular with rock collectors who use the unique local stones to create scultures or to use as souvenirs in their homes and gardens. We wanted to capture the essence of Montauk and that special memory spark that can only come from the texture of a place. It’s our version of “Take only memories, leave nothing but footprints.”
Jewelry Query: If you take a pewter pebble and dip it in gold, does that make it a precious “stone”? Discuss in the comments!
